The Benefits of Reserving your Moving Truck Early.

Some people reserve their truck months and months in advance while others wait until a few days before their relocation day. When is a good time to reserve your move? How much notice should you give your mover to ensure availability?

The answer is: the earlier the better!

There are several reasons and ensuring availability is just one of them. First and foremost, by scheduling early you normally receive regular or low prices from the movers. Scheduling a truck is a lot like ordering flight tickets. If you reserve early you ensure availability and get better rates.

The reason is simple. Let's say that a mover has a trailer that is going from Arizona to Florida. When the railer is completely empty the mover will want to give rates as attractive as possible to fill it up. When you get closer to the time of the move and the trailer is more than fifty percent full, if demand is greater than the space he has left and so the prices will considerably increase. There is also the risk that the mover will run out of space completely and then you will need to reschedule your move date.

Many people do not have an actual moving date until the last minute because of closings, legal matters, unplanned circumstances and so on.

Even is you have only an estimated date for your move you can still reserve and change your move date as you get closer and get a confirmed time.

If you are already on the mover's existing client roster you will receive priority if you need to switch move dates even at the last second. It's always better to be on the schedule and call to try and switch dates than call as a new customer when the trucks are almost full. In addition you will still receive the same rates you reserved with and not be charged the higher last minute rates. So what is early? The recommended time frame is a month and a half to two months before the move. If you feel you cannot reserve that early try to get on the schedule at least four weeks in advance.
